Abstract: As a global community of manufacturers and with the growing climate crisis and COVID-19 Pandemic, there was never more a need for global manufacturers to rethink manufacturing, the supply chain, ensuring the products we make will, last, be re used and if not, will be easily recycled. The energy required to manufacture and the Carbon footprint to manufacture needs to be significantly reduced. This means relooking at business models, supply chain and how and where we manufacture. If these transformations are to happen it will need a very strong partnership between manufacturers, their supply chains and the academic research community to drive this research, development and innovation.
